There is darkness and there is Light ;
They meet here, and then vanish away,
There is dreaming and there is Waking ;
For there is no division in the Great Reality,
There is illusion and there is Reality.
Strife and unrest cannot enter there,
The darkness apprehendeth not the Light ;
And he who comes to it is filled with peace.
The dreamer knoweth not his waking mind ;
Thou who wouldst understand the Great Reality ;
And the wanderer in illusion is unacquainted with Thou who would?st enter it, and know its peace; Reality ;
Seek the One behind the many,
Of two ways, therefore, one must be abandoned.
Seek the Silence behind the noise,
Seek Truth behind self ;
I discourse upon the Way which leads thither;
Seek for that which is holy and peace-giving,
For Truth is not of words, but of life,
Which abides, and does not pass away like the
And though Truth govern the tongue, its seat is not

What words shall add beauty to the ineffable?
Compassion abides ;
And what man shall glorify Truth?
Truth abides;
Let the ineffable give beauty to words,
Therefore sacrifice self,

For self and all the things of self are perishable,
I, therefore, point the Way which leads to Truth.
They belong to the unreal !
Not by speculation do I point the Way,
Awake, then, out of thy dreaming!
But by practice and attainment:
Disperse all thy shadows,
The Way is named Self - conquest.
Destroy all thine illusions,
I write for believers,
And thou shalt enter the Great Reality;
For them that believe that self can be overcome.
Filled with peace, thou shalt dwell with the Eternal I write not for them that deny that self can be Harmonies ;
overcome,
Filled with bliss, thou shalt sing the everlasting
And who thus exalt and give dominion to self.
Song,
He who believes, will walk the holy Way,
The Song which thrills the spaces and the worlds ; And, walking it, will reach the highest Truth.
Thy Song and mine thus shalt thou sing,?
Let him who thus believes, equip himself :?
I have made the acquaintance of the Master of
Helmeted with Faith, Armoured with Patience,
Compassion;
And armed with the sharp Sword of Resolution,
I have put on the Garment of the Perfect Law ;
He will be prepared to attack the enemies of Truth
I have entered the realm of the Great Reality.
