For this task you should read the resource file ‘What matters most?. Here you?ll find two pages from the Key Housing website, ‘Our principles? and ‘What matters most?. Key Housing was set up in 1977 by parents who wanted to improve accommodation for people with learning disabilities, particularly with a view to finding alternatives to institutional care. Today it is a Registered Housing Association supporting over 800 people throughout Scotland and with more than 1000 staff working to support people. The housing they provide is small scale and aims to be integrated into local communities.
Read through the pages from Key Housing?s website contained in the resource file, available to download below. What do you think someone wanting to move out of an institution like Lennox Castle might need to make the successful move ‘from care to citizenship? that Jan Walmsley mentions in her reader chapter?
Think about this question as you read the resource file, ‘What matters most?. Under the download link, you?ll find listed the five headings from ‘What matters most?, with some space for you to note down your thoughts.
